Damage:

  • This pest does not get eradication by insecticide application and causes 50-70% crops damage.
  • The damage to crops caused by oviposition in fruit and soft tissues of vegetative parts feeding by the larvae.
  • Decomposition of plant tissue by invading secondary microorganisms and fruit become distorted and drop down.
  • Matured larvae/maggot transforms into pupae within couple of weeks and finally turns into adult fruit fly and again starts infestation.

 

Infestation Inception: During flowering stage.

 

Best time for Lure and Trap Installation: Before flowering stage.

 

Application rate:

  • 1 lure and 1 trap for 2.5 decimal land
  • Trap to trap distance 10-12 meters as square form.

 

Pheromone lure and trap installation:

  • Soapy water should be poured below the level of two triangular windows.
  • Triangular windows should keep at the North-South direction.
  • Whole trap should be hung at same height of plant just similar to its fruit keeping the prescribed distance.
  • 5 inch distance should be maintained between soapy water surfaces to hanging lure the middle point of two triangular windows.

 

Precaution:

  • If lure soaked by soapy water or by rain it might lose its effectiveness.
  • Soapy water should be changed twice in a week.
  • Do not use chemical pesticide when pheromone trap already installed. Using of chemical pesticide destroys its effectiveness.

Installation Procedure:

·       Lure should be hung from the top of plastic trap by a thin cord or rope at the mid level of triangular windows.

·       Whole trap should be hung at same height of plant and its fruit. Height should be maintained with increasing of plant height as well.

·       Soapy water should be poured 1 cm below the level of two triangular windows.

 

Application rate:

·       Trap to trap distance 10-12 meters as square form.

·       1 lure and 1 trap for 2.5 decimal land, Per hectare 90-100 pcs

·      Soapy water should be changed twice in a week.

·      Never open the cap of the vial.
